The LGV Category C licence was formerly commonly known as HGV class 2. The LGV Category C licence will allow drivers who pass the Category C driving test to drive any rigid Category C vehicle up to 32 tonnes. Once you successfully pass your LGV Cat C test, you will obtain Category C on your licence as well as Category C1 (7.5 tonne licence).
Once you have passed your LGV Medical Examination, you must then make an application to the DVLA for your Category C provisional licence. In order to make this application, you will need to complete a D2 Application, which can be ordered online or can be obtained from your local post office.
At this stage of applying for your Category C provisional licence it is also worth applying for Category D1 (PCV Minibus) and Category D (PCV -Bus/Coach), as currently there is no fee for applying for these provisional entitlements, and should you decide to progress onto any of these tests in the future, it will save you from having to re apply for the provisional entitlement, and avoid incurring any possible future fees.
